The Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni is an underground prehistoric necropolis located in Ta' Qali, Malta. It is one of the most important archaeological sites on the island and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The site dates back to around 4000 BC and features a complex of interconnecting chambers and passages carved out of the rock.
Visitors can tour the site, but due to its fragility, only a limited number of visitors are allowed per day. Tickets must be booked in advance through the Heritage Malta website. Admission costs €35 for adults, €20 for students, and €15 for children under 12.
The site is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tours are available in English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish.
In the surrounding area of Ta' Qali, visitors can also explore the Ta' Qali Crafts Village, which features local artisans and shops selling traditional Maltese crafts. The village is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Another nearby attraction is the Limestone Heritage Park and Gardens, which showcases the history and uses of limestone in Malta. The park is open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission costs €12.50 for adults, €8 for students, and €4 for children under 12.
