The Bogotá José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden is one of the largest in South America, covering over 19 hectares. Its mission is to promote research, conservation, and education about Colombian flora and fauna. The garden is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm, and admission is free.
Visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems of Colombia, including the Andean cloud forest, dry forest, and savannah. The garden is home to over 5,000 plant species, including orchids, bromeliads, and carnivorous plants. There is also a butterfly house, a medicinal plant garden, and a lake with water lilies.
In addition to the garden, there are several other attractions in the area. The National University of Colombia is located nearby and offers guided tours of its historic campus.
