The Rio dos Frades Wildlife Refuge is located in Trancoso, Brazil and is a protected area of Atlantic Forest. The official website for the refuge is not available, but it is open to visitors every day from 8am to 5pm. The entrance fee is free.
Visitors can hike through the trails, observe the diverse flora and fauna, and even swim in the natural pools and waterfalls. The surrounding area also offers stunning beaches, such as Praia do Espelho and Praia dos Nativos, as well as the historic Quadrado in Trancoso.
It is recommended to visit the refuge during the dry season from May to September, as it can be more difficult to access during the rainy season.
